Niels was born at Mill Creek on 16 May 1859 — the first of the twelve to be born in America, and the only one born during the family’s two years in the Salt Lake Valley before they were sent south to help settle Moroni. His birthplace is the reason we can date that move: the family was still at Mill Creek in May 1859.
He married Inger Maria Johnson in Salt Lake City on 15 January 1880. The 1997 family tree records her name as Marie Johnson; the marriage record gives it in full. They had nine children, five sons and four daughters, and lost two of them small — Victoria Maria at seven, and Niels Ernest in infancy.
He died at Moroni on 2 June 1922, aged sixty-three, and is buried there.
The 2007 family history carries a biography of Niels Jr.; nothing from it has been brought onto this page yet. Everything above is from public records.
